Antsirabe Airport is the main air gateway for Antsirabe, the capital of Madagascar's Vakinankaratra region and the country's third-largest city. The small civil airfield mainly supports domestic regional flights and private charters, linking the central highlands with the rest of the country.
Located in the central highlands at about 1,522 metres above sea level, the airport lies roughly 5 km northeast of central Antsirabe and about 110 km south of the capital, Antananarivo. Its single paved runway is around 1,200 metres long and serves light aircraft.
The airport is a short taxi or pousse-pousse ride from the city centre, and the RN7 national road connects Antsirabe with Antananarivo to the north and towns further south such as Ambositra. For international flights, travellers generally use Ivato International Airport near Antananarivo and continue to Antsirabe by road.
The terminal is compact and functional, with basic seating, restrooms and a small kiosk for refreshments. Because services are limited, visitors are advised to arrange onward transport in advance and carry cash for local expenses.
