Ampara Airport, also known as Gal Oya Airport or SLAF Ampara, is a domestic airport and Sri Lanka Air Force base in Gal Oya, in Sri Lanka's Eastern Province. It serves the town of Ampara and the surrounding eastern region, providing a small but useful gateway for domestic and charter air travel.
Located about 8 km northwest of Ampara town, the airport primarily handles domestic flights and charters, including services between Ampara and Colombo-Ratmalana operated by Helitours and charter flights by FitsAir. The airfield has a single asphalt runway of around 1,097 m and sits at an elevation of about 46 m.
As a compact dual military-civil facility, Ampara Airport offers a basic terminal experience with limited passenger amenities.
