About Altamira Interstate Airport
Altamira Interstate Airport is the main airport serving the municipality of Altamira and a key access point for the Transamazônica region in southwestern Pará. Opened in 1979, it provides domestic connections for travellers visiting the city and the surrounding Xingu area.
The airport handles domestic flights, primarily connecting Altamira with the state capital, Belém. Aena Brasil took over management following the 2022 concession auction, and the passenger terminal was expanded in 2023 to improve boarding areas and operational capacity.
Located about 7 km from the centre of Altamira, the airport is reached by road, with taxis, private transfers and car rental available for the short journey into town.
With a single passenger terminal, check-in, security, arrivals and essential passenger services are concentrated in one compact building, making onward travel simple for visitors arriving in the Transamazônica region.
