Alcantarí International Airport is the main airport serving Sucre, Bolivia's constitutional capital, and the surrounding Chuquisaca department. Opened in May 2016, it replaced the former Juana Azurduy de Padilla International Airport and consolidated the city's commercial air traffic in a modern airport complex.
Located southeast of central Sucre in the Yamparáez municipality, the airport provides domestic connections to cities such as La Paz, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Cochabamba and Tarija. Its modern infrastructure includes a single passenger terminal, a 3,600-metre runway and facilities designed for regional passenger services.
The airport is about 30 km from Sucre city centre and is reached by taxi, minibus, private transfer and road links, with onward travel to the city and nearby areas taking roughly 45 to 50 minutes under normal conditions.
