About Al Maktoum International Airport
Al Maktoum International Airport is Dubai's second international airport, located around 37 km southwest of the city centre in the Jebel Ali area of Dubai South. Opened for cargo operations in 2010 and for passenger flights in 2013, it complements Dubai International Airport and supports a growing mix of scheduled, low-cost and charter carriers.
The airport currently operates through a single passenger terminal with 104 check-in desks, 24 boarding gates and seven baggage reclaim carousels, alongside dedicated executive and private aviation facilities. A major expansion approved in 2024 is intended to turn DWC into one of the world's largest airports over the coming decade.
Travellers can reach central Dubai, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah and Downtown Dubai by taxi, private transfer, rental car or road links, with journey times typically around 40 to 60 minutes depending on traffic and destination.
