About Al Minhad Air Base
Al Minhad Air Base is a military airfield serving Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. Operated by the UAE Air Force, it has a single runway designated 09/27 and functions primarily as a transport and logistics hub rather than a public passenger airport.
Located about 24 km south of central Dubai, the base has supported coalition operations in the Middle East, including Australian, British, Canadian, Dutch and New Zealand forces. Since 2008 it has served as a main logistics hub for the Australian Defence Force, hosting Joint Task Force 633 and Camp Baird; a British support facility, Donnelly Lines, opened in 2024.
As a restricted military installation, Al Minhad does not offer scheduled civilian flights, public terminals or commercial passenger facilities. Nearby civilian airports, including Dubai International and Al Maktoum International, handle most public air travel for the emirate.
Road connections link the base to Dubai and the wider UAE, with private vehicles, taxis and pre-arranged transfers used for onward travel for authorized personnel and visitors.
