About Fujairah
Fujairah City is the capital of the Emirate of Fujairah, the only one of the seven United Arab Emirates located on the Gulf of Oman rather than the Arabian Gulf. Framed by the Hajar Mountains and the Indian Ocean coastline, it combines a working port city with beaches, heritage sites and a growing role in global trade and tourism.
The city's history is visible at the restored hilltop Fujairah Fort, the nearby Fujairah Museum and the Heritage Village, while Al Bidya Mosque, a small mud-brick mosque from the 15th century, is regarded as the oldest mosque in the UAE. The modern Sheikh Zayed Mosque, one of the country's largest, is a prominent white marble landmark that can hold around 28,000 worshippers.
Along the coast, the Corniche and Hamad Bin Abdulla Road form the centre of daily life, with hotels, malls and restaurants close to the water. Visitors head north to Al Aqah beach and Snoopy Island for swimming and snorkelling, explore the mountain roads and wadis, or browse the Friday Market for local produce, pottery and carpets.
Fujairah is also an important maritime and energy centre. The Port of Fujairah is one of the world's major bunkering hubs, and the Fujairah Free Zone and Creative City attract logistics, trading and media companies. This mix of industry, free zones and tourism gives the city a practical, international character.
For leisure and business travellers, Fujairah offers a calmer alternative to Dubai with easy road access along the Sheikh Khalifa Highway. It works equally well for beach holidays, diving and mountain excursions, port-related business trips and conferences.

Fujairah Travel Guide
Best Time to Visit
The most comfortable period is from October to April, when temperatures are milder and conditions are good for beaches, sightseeing and mountain trips. Summer is very hot and humid, while winter is ideal for outdoor activities and water sports.
How to Get Around
Fujairah has a limited public bus network, so taxis, ride-hailing apps and rental cars are the most practical ways to travel. The Sheikh Khalifa Highway connects the city with Dubai and other east-coast areas, and most hotels and attractions are easy to reach by road.
Where to Stay
City hotels along Hamad Bin Abdulla Road and the Corniche are convenient for business, the fort, the port and shopping. Leisure travellers often choose beach resorts near Al Aqah and Dibba, while serviced apartments and smaller hotels suit longer stays.
Food & Drink
Fujairah's food scene includes Emirati and Arabic dishes, fresh Gulf of Oman seafood and international restaurants, with cafés along the corniche and in the main malls. Traditional favourites such as machboos, grilled meats and luqaimat are common alongside karak tea.
