About Al Bateen Executive Airport
Al Bateen Executive Airport is the dedicated executive aviation hub of Abu Dhabi, located on Abu Dhabi Island close to the city centre. Opened in 1970 as the capital's first international airport, it served as Abu Dhabi's main gateway until Abu Dhabi International Airport opened in 1982, and was reorganised under Abu Dhabi Airports in 2008 as a specialised private aviation facility.
Situated about 12 km southeast of central Abu Dhabi, the airport focuses on private jets, business aviation and VIP travel rather than scheduled commercial flights. Its infrastructure includes a single executive terminal, the Sheikh Zayed Terminal, a 3.2 km runway widened and resurfaced in 2022, apron and hangar facilities, and a forthcoming Bombardier Service Centre and Abu Dhabi's first vertiport.
The airport operates 24/7 with no slot restrictions and provides onsite immigration and customs support, private baggage screening, lounges, meeting facilities and crew amenities, supporting fast and discreet turnarounds for passengers and aircraft.
Its central position places major government districts, business areas, hotels and lifestyle destinations within easy reach, and onward travel to Abu Dhabi and destinations across the UAE can be arranged by private transfer, chauffeur service, taxi or rental car.
