About Aksu Hongqipo Airport
Aksu Hongqipo Airport serves the city of Aksu and the surrounding Aksu Prefecture in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of northwestern China. The airport began civilian operations in 1973 as a joint military-civilian airfield and has since developed into the region's main passenger gateway.
Located in Hongqipo Farm on the border of Aksu City and Wensu County, the airport operates two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 opened in 2010 and Terminal 2 entered service in 2020, supporting flights to major Chinese cities such as Urumqi, Beijing, Chengdu, Xi'an and other destinations.
The airport lies about 12.5 km from central Aksu and roughly 5 km from Wensu. Passengers can reach the city by airport shuttle bus, local bus services and taxi, with the taxi journey to central Aksu taking around 30 minutes.
