About Redange
Redange-sur-Attert, known as Réiden in Luxembourgish, is a small town and commune in western Luxembourg and the administrative seat of the canton of Redange. Set in the green valley of the Attert river close to the Belgian border, it has a calm rural character and a compact centre of shops, cafés and municipal services.
The settlement grew from a linear village into the main hub of its surrounding countryside. Its past remains visible in older streets and parish churches, and in the memory of the Jangeli, a narrow-gauge railway that once connected the area to nearby valleys. The annual Kropemann festival, held on the last Sunday of September, brings music, food stalls and a market to the town in honour of a local folklore figure.
Around the centre, visitors can see the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul and the green space of Park Worré, or follow the short, accessible Redange comfort hiking trail through the forest. The wider canton adds landmarks such as Useldange Castle, Turelbaach Castle and rural museums, while villages including Lannen, Nagem, Niederpallen, Ospern and Reichlange give the commune its scattered agricultural character.
Redange is not a large urban centre, but it works as an administrative and service town for the region and sits within reasonable reach of Luxembourg City. Its quiet setting, walking and cycling routes, and position near the Belgian Ardennes make it a practical base for rural tourism, day trips and short cross-border travel.
