About Ziro Airport
Ziro Airport (ZER) is a small domestic airport serving the town of Ziro and the surrounding Ziro Valley in Arunachal Pradesh, India. It operates as a dual-use facility, functioning both as a civilian airport and as an Indian Air Force Advanced Landing Ground.
Located about 4 km from Ziro town centre, the airport provides a regional air link for travelers visiting the valley and its Apatani cultural sites. Scheduled commercial service resumed in October 2022 when Alliance Air began flights under the regional UDAN scheme, connecting Ziro with Lilabari and onward points in the northeast.
The airport has a compact single terminal building that handles limited passenger volumes, with basic facilities including seating and restrooms. Its small runway and high-altitude valley location mean operations are suited to smaller aircraft and can be affected by weather conditions.
For onward travel, visitors typically continue by local taxi or pre-arranged vehicle into Ziro town and nearby areas, as public transport options are limited.
