Shravasti Airport is a small domestic airport serving the Shravasti district of Uttar Pradesh, including nearby Balrampur and Bahraich. It opened to scheduled passenger services in March 2024 after the redevelopment of an existing airstrip, strengthening regional connectivity for this part of northern India.
The airport is located close to the town of Katra Shravasti and the Sahet-Mahet archaeological site, a major Buddhist pilgrimage destination where the Buddha is believed to have spent many monsoon seasons. This makes it an important gateway for pilgrims and visitors to the Buddhist circuit.
Spread across 57 acres, the airport includes a passenger terminal building, an air traffic control tower, a fire station and a 1,530-metre runway suited to 19-seater regional aircraft. Regional flights under the UDAN scheme connect the area with Lucknow, with further links planned to other cities in Uttar Pradesh.
