Yucca Airstrip (UCC)

Yucca Airstrip is a private-use airfield serving Mercury and the Nevada National Security Site in Nye County, Nevada. Located about 27 km (17 miles) north of Mercury, the airfield sits within a restricted federal facility owned by the U.S. Department of Energy and supports government and permitted operational flights rather than scheduled commercial services.

The airfield has two runways: an asphalt runway (1/19) of about 5,300 ft and a salt runway (14/32) of about 9,000 ft, with an elevation of roughly 3,919 ft. Because it lies within a secured site, access requires prior permission and is not open to the general public.

For travelers and crews with authorized access, the nearest major urban area is Las Vegas, roughly 124 km (77 miles) southeast. Smaller communities such as Beatty, Amargosa Valley and Pahrump lie to the west and south, and the Death Valley region is reachable by road to the west.

Yucca Airstrip is best understood as a specialized operational airfield rather than a public passenger gateway. Support services are limited, and fuel or handling should be confirmed in advance through the sponsoring agency or approved operator.
