About Yerington Municipal Airport
Yerington Municipal Airport is a public general aviation airport serving the town of Yerington, the Mason Valley and rural Lyon County in western Nevada. It supports private flights, charter activity, flight training and agricultural aviation for a region without commercial airline service.
The airport was activated in May 1945 and is owned by the City of Yerington. Its single asphalt runway, Runway 2/20, is about 5,800 feet long, and the field sits at roughly 4,380 feet elevation about one mile north of downtown Yerington.
Because Yerington is a small rural community, the airport operates without a control tower or commercial terminal. Passengers and pilots rely on private vehicles, rental cars, taxis and pre-arranged transfers to continue to Yerington, Carson City about 35 miles away, Reno about 45 miles away and the Lake Tahoe region.
Facilities are focused on general aviation, with fuel, tie-downs, a pilot lounge, flight training and maintenance services supporting both local and visiting aircraft. For travelers, the airport offers a simple, uncrowded arrival point with easy access to the surrounding valley and the region's main highways.
