Yari Airport (AYI)

Yari Airport is a small remote airstrip in the Llanos del Yarí, a savanna area of Caquetá Department in southern Colombia. It provides a vital air link for scattered farming and indigenous communities and supports humanitarian flights, medical evacuations and the transport of essential goods.

The airport has an unpaved grass or compacted-earth runway used mainly by short take-off and landing aircraft, small air taxis and charter operators. It has no conventional terminal building, no control tower and no scheduled commercial service, so flights are normally arranged through regional hubs such as San Vicente del Caguán or Florencia.

Located roughly 30 km from Araracuara, the airport sits in a low-lying Amazonian landscape where the rainy season can affect the airstrip. Travelers generally continue by pre-arranged road or river transport, and onward connections to Bogotá require a regional flight from a larger hub.

Passenger facilities are very limited, so visitors should arrive with essentials and confirm transport before departure. Despite its basic infrastructure, the airstrip remains an important access point for this remote part of Caquetá.
