About Woensdrecht Air Base
Woensdrecht Air Base is a military airfield in North Brabant serving the Royal Netherlands Air Force and the area around Bergen op Zoom. The site's aviation history dates back to the 1930s, when it was developed as a glider and training airfield, and today it supports elementary military pilot training, logistics and aircraft maintenance operations.
Located about 10 km south of Bergen op Zoom, near the villages of Woensdrecht and Huijbergen and close to the Belgian border, the base is home to PC-7 training aircraft and the Logistic Centre Woensdrecht. Fokker Services also uses the airfield for maintenance, repair, overhaul and modification work.
Unlike commercial airports, Woensdrecht Air Base does not operate public passenger terminals or scheduled airline flights. Access is restricted, and civilian use is only possible with prior permission and in line with military security procedures.
Road connections make the base reachable from Bergen op Zoom and the wider North Brabant region, with nearby motorway links and local bus services. It is best suited to military, government, maintenance and approved general aviation traffic rather than everyday passenger travel.
