About Lelystad Airport
Lelystad Airport is the busiest general aviation airport in the Netherlands, serving Lelystad, the Flevoland region and the central part of the country. The airport opened in 1973 and is operated by Royal Schiphol Group, handling around 80,000 air transport movements per year across flight training, business aviation, sport flying, medical flights, sightseeing flights and aircraft maintenance.
Located about 7 km from Lelystad's city centre and close to the A6 motorway, the airport is designed to become a leisure airport for holiday flights, although scheduled commercial services have not yet begun. Its modern passenger terminal has four gates and room for expansion, while the existing terminal continues to serve general and business aviation.
The airport is quick to reach by road from the A6 via the Anthony Fokkerweg and by public transport, with Lelystad Centrum station nearby. This places it within easy reach of Lelystad, Almere, Zwolle, Amsterdam and other parts of the central Netherlands.
