Viracopos International Airport is the main international airport serving Campinas and the wider São Paulo state region, and an important gateway for both passenger and cargo traffic. It is a major hub for Azul Brazilian Airlines and one of Brazil's busiest cargo airports.
The site dates back to the 1930s and was officially inaugurated as an international airport on 19 October 1960. A modern passenger terminal was opened in 2014 as part of a major expansion program, giving the airport greater capacity for domestic and international flights.
Located about 20 km southwest of central Campinas and roughly 99 km northwest of São Paulo, the airport is connected to the city and surrounding region by buses, taxis, app-based rides, private transfers, car rental and major road links such as Rodovia Santos Dumont.
