Vincenzo Florio Airport Trapani-Birgi (TPS)

Vincenzo Florio Airport Trapani-Birgi is the main airport serving the province of Trapani in western Sicily. Located in the Birgi district between Trapani and Marsala, it handles domestic and international flights, with Ryanair operating much of the seasonal route network.

The site opened as a military base in the early 1960s, and the civil terminal later took the name of Vincenzo Florio. Airgest has managed the civil airport since 1992, and major expansion works in 2009 moved the departures area to the first floor while adding boarding gates and more space for dining and shopping.

The airport lies around 15 km south of Trapani city centre. Buses operated by Autoservizi Salemi connect the airport with Trapani, Marsala and Palermo, while taxis, private transfers and car rental desks provide further onward travel options.

With a single passenger terminal, the airport keeps arrivals and check-in on the ground floor and departures, security and boarding on the first floor, making it a compact and practical entry point for visitors to Trapani, the Egadi Islands, Erice, San Vito Lo Capo and the rest of western Sicily.
