About Viña del Mar Airport
Viña del Mar Airport is a joint civil and military aerodrome serving Greater Valparaíso, including the coastal cities of Viña del Mar and Valparaíso. It opened in 1987 as the Viña del Mar Naval Air Base and Airport and is operated by the Chilean Navy from its Torquemada site in Concón.
Located about 15 km northeast of Viña del Mar and around 4 km east of Concón, the airport functions mainly as a naval aviation base, with a small civilian passenger terminal that has seen only limited commercial use. A single runway and compact terminal infrastructure serve both military and civil operations.
The airport is connected to Viña del Mar, Valparaíso and the coast by the regional road network, including routes through Concón and along the Pacific coast. Ground transportation options include taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars for onward travel.
A modernization project announced in 2024 plans to expand the airport into a full commercial facility, with a new passenger terminal of more than 4,000 m², runway improvements and additional operating infrastructure. Once completed, the airport is expected to support regular domestic and international services for the Valparaíso Region.
