About Vandalia Municipal Airport
Vandalia Municipal Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Vandalia and Fayette County in south-central Illinois. It is owned and operated by the Vandalia Park District and has been open to the public since July 1944.
Located about three miles northwest of downtown Vandalia, the airport supports private and business aviation, aerial inspection, agricultural operations, medical transport, law enforcement, news reporting and glider flying. The airfield has two asphalt runways, Runway 18/36 and Runway 9/27.
The airport complex includes a small passenger terminal building that was renovated in 2012, with a reception and waiting area, pilot lounge and meeting space. Fuel services include self-serve 100LL and Jet-A, and aircraft parking is available through hangars and tiedowns.
Vandalia is close to Interstate 70, U.S. Route 40 and U.S. Route 51, and St. Louis, Missouri, is about 70 miles to the west. Road access makes the airport convenient for pilots and travelers moving between the airport and communities in the region.
