About the Event
Lollapalooza Chicago is an annual four-day music festival held in Grant Park, in downtown Chicago, Illinois. Its program spans pop, rock, hip-hop, electronic, indie, R&B, K-pop, Latin and alternative music, with more than 170 artists performing across eight stages. Since 2005, Grant Park has been the festival's permanent home.
The 2027 edition is expected to run Thursday, July 29 through Sunday, August 1, 2027, keeping the festival's traditional four-day late-July and early-August weekend; official dates have not yet been confirmed. Sets typically begin in the early afternoon and continue into the evening across two main stages, the electronic-focused Perry's Stage and several smaller stages where emerging artists play to some of their largest crowds.
The event draws music fans from around the world, with attendance typically exceeding 100,000 people per day. Beyond the stages, visitors can explore a food program featuring local Chicago restaurants, family-friendly programming and brand activations spread across the park. Grant Park's open lawns, Lake Michigan shoreline and Chicago skyline give the festival a distinctly urban open-air character.
Official Lollapalooza aftershows extend the event beyond the park, placing festival artists in smaller Chicago venues such as Metro, The Vic, House of Blues, Lincoln Hall and Schubas. These club and theater shows let fans see performers in intimate settings after the main program ends each night.
Lollapalooza began in 1991 as a touring alternative-music festival and adopted its current Chicago format in 2005. It has since become one of the city's signature summer events and a major stop on the international festival calendar, pairing global headliners with rising acts from many genres.
Tickets are typically offered as four-day passes and, once the daily lineup is released, single-day options. General Admission, GA+, VIP and Platinum tiers provide different levels of access, viewing areas and amenities, with premium packages adding hospitality and dedicated lounges.
