About Utkela Airport
Utkela Airport is a small domestic airport serving Utkela and the Kalahandi district in western Odisha. It is owned by the Government of Odisha and was developed as a regional airport under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme.
The airport is located about 15 km north of Bhawanipatna, the district headquarters, and began scheduled commercial operations in August 2023. It has a single runway of approximately 917 metres and handles regional flights operated with small aircraft.
IndiaOne Air connects Utkela with Bhubaneswar and Raipur using nine-seater aircraft, significantly reducing the roughly eight-hour road journey to Bhubaneswar to about one hour and twenty minutes.
The terminal is compact, with basic passenger facilities, and onward travel by road to Bhawanipatna and nearby areas of Kalahandi is available from the airport.
