Chinggis Khaan International Airport is the main international airport serving Ulaanbaatar and the wider Töv Province region. Opened in 2021, it replaced the former Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport as Mongolia's primary air gateway and is named after the Mongolian leader Genghis Khan.
Located about 52 km south of Ulaanbaatar in Sergelen, Töv Province, the airport handles domestic and international flights from a single passenger terminal with a 3,600-metre runway. Its modern terminal building accommodates arrivals, departures, airline operations and a range of passenger services.
The airport is connected to Ulaanbaatar by a six-lane highway, with shuttle buses, taxis, private transfers and rental cars available for the journey to the city centre and surrounding areas. The drive typically takes around 50 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic.
