About Tocumen International Airport
Tocumen International Airport is the main international airport serving Panama City and the wider Republic of Panama. Originally opened in 1947, it expanded with the inauguration of Terminal 1 in 1978 and grew again with the opening of Terminal 2 in June 2022. It functions as the home of Copa Airlines' Hub of the Americas, connecting cities across the Americas and the Caribbean.
Located on Avenida Domingo Díaz about 24 km from central Panama City, the airport handles international and domestic traffic through two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 hosts carriers such as American Airlines, Avianca, Delta, Iberia and Turkish Airlines, while Terminal 2 serves Copa Airlines, Air France, KLM and United Airlines.
The airport is connected to the city by the Corredor Sur highway, taxis, ride-hailing services, buses, private transfers, rental cars and the Metro Line 2 airport branch, which has served the terminal complex since 2023 and links to the wider metro network.
