About Tirupati International Airport
Tirupati International Airport is the main airport serving the pilgrimage city of Tirupati and the nearby hill shrine of Tirumala in Andhra Pradesh. Opened in 1971 and operated by the Airports Authority of India, the airport was declared an international airport by the Government of India in June 2017.
Located in Renigunta, around 15 kilometres from central Tirupati, the airport primarily handles domestic flights linking the region with cities such as Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. A modern integrated terminal, the Garuda Terminal, was commissioned in November 2015 and is designed to accommodate both domestic and international passengers.
The airport is connected to Tirupati and surrounding areas by public buses, prepaid taxis, car rentals and road links, with taxi pick-up located directly outside the arrivals area.
