About Thisted Airport
Thisted Airport opened in 1970 as a regional airfield serving Thisted and the surrounding Thy district in northwestern Jutland. For several decades it provided domestic flights between Thisted and Copenhagen, helping connect the area with the Danish capital.
The airport lies beside national road 26, roughly 13 km north of Thisted and about 7 km southeast of the North Sea town of Hanstholm. Its location places it close to the coast and the communities of the Thy region, including popular surf and nature destinations.
Scheduled passenger services from Thisted ended in 2007, and the airport now operates mainly as a VFR airfield owned by Thisted Municipality. It continues to support general aviation and is home to an aircraft maintenance facility operated by Sun-Air, as well as the local flying club.
Travelers using the airport can continue by taxi, private transfer or rental car along national road 26 to Thisted, Hanstholm and nearby coastal towns. For scheduled commercial flights, Aalborg Airport is the nearest major regional airport.
