About the Event
Roskilde Festival is Northern Europe's largest music and cultural festival and an independent, non-profit event founded in 1971. Each year it transforms the festival grounds outside Roskilde into a temporary city for up to 130,000 participants and around 30,000 volunteers. Since 1972, proceeds have been donated to humanitarian and cultural causes, with a particular focus on improving wellbeing and opportunities for children and young people.
The 2027 edition runs from 26 June to 3 July, with the campsite open from Saturday 26 June to Sunday 4 July. The music programme is expected to grow to around 180 acts, and visitors can experience more than 170 concerts across international headliners, Nordic names and emerging artists. The first announced acts include Tame Impala, Caroline Polachek, Kacey Musgraves, Patti Smith Quartet, Ezra Collective, Karpe, Emma Sehested Høeg, Suki Waterhouse, Neurosis and Lambrini Girls.
Music is spread across multiple stages, including the iconic Orange Stage, the festival's main stage and symbol. The line-up spans psychedelic pop, alternative rock, country, jazz, rap, punk, hardcore and experimental electronic music. Beyond concerts, the programme features art, talks, films, workshops, communal meals and spontaneous activities, with First Days in the campsite offering performances and events before the main Inner Site opens.
Camping is a defining part of the festival. Visitors can choose between Regular Camping, Special Camping, Community Camping and Volunteer Camping, with toilets, showers, water stations, food stalls and small shops spread across the campsite. The festival grounds cover an area equivalent to around 350 football pitches, and during the festival week the site functions like Denmark's fourth-largest city.
Food across the festival follows a 100% organic requirement, with a wide range of vegetarian, vegan and plant-based dishes, and all stalls must offer at least one vegetarian or vegan option. The festival also works on energy, food, waste and recycling initiatives and has set a goal of becoming CO2e-neutral by 2028.
Safety, accessibility and community responsibility are central to the experience. The festival operates with a code of conduct and crowd safety teams, provides accessible camping and festival solutions for visitors with disabilities, and relies on volunteers and staff to help people navigate the large site. Full festival, one-day and two-day tickets are available, and visitors can also join the event as volunteers.
