The airport lies about 10 miles (16 km) from central New Orleans and roughly two nautical miles northwest of Belle Chasse. It operates a short asphalt runway alongside a 5,000-foot water landing area, making it well suited to seaplane operations in the Mississippi River delta region.
As a small private facility known by the FAA identifier 65LA and IATA code BCS, the airport focuses on scenic flights, fishing excursions and executive charters rather than scheduled commercial passenger service.
