Sishen Airport is a small regional airport serving Kathu and the iron ore mining area of South Africa's Northern Cape. It is owned and operated by Kumba Iron Ore, a subsidiary of Anglo American, and functions as an air link between the region and the country's main business centres.
Located off the R380 about 15 km from Kathu's centre and roughly 47 km from Kuruman, the airport primarily connects the area with Johannesburg through scheduled Airlink flights. It serves mining and business travellers as well as visitors heading to the Green Kalahari region.
The airport operates from a single passenger terminal with a simple, single-level layout that keeps check-in, security and boarding quick. Passenger facilities are compact and focused on short stays before departure.
