Shreveport Regional Airport is the primary commercial airport serving Shreveport, Bossier City and the surrounding Ark-La-Tex region of northwestern Louisiana. It opened in 1952, and the current terminal building dates to 1971, with later renovations and gate expansions supporting its role as a convenient regional gateway.
Located about 7 km (4 miles) southwest of downtown Shreveport, the airport offers nonstop domestic connections to major hubs through American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and Allegiant Air. It is a public/military facility that shares runways with Barksdale Air Force Base and is managed by the Shreveport Airport Authority.
The single main terminal has a straightforward two-level layout: the upper level is used for ticketing and departures, while the lower level handles arrivals and baggage claim. A single central security checkpoint leads to the concourse and its gates, keeping walking distances short and the passenger experience relatively simple.
