About Shreveport Downtown Airport
Shreveport Downtown Airport serves as a general aviation and reliever airport for Shreveport and the surrounding northwest Louisiana region. Its history dates to 1929, when Delta Air Lines began early passenger flights through Shreveport, and the original terminal was constructed and dedicated by June 1931. The airport served as the community's primary air carrier facility until scheduled airline service moved to Shreveport Regional Airport in 1952.
Located about 3 miles (5 km) north of downtown Shreveport and bordered on three sides by the Red River, DTN offers quick access to the central business district, the riverfront and nearby Bossier City. It is owned and operated by the Shreveport Airport Authority and is positioned close to Barksdale Air Force Base and Shreveport Regional Airport.
The airport operates two runways: the primary Runway 14/32 and the crosswind Runway 5/23, along with a control tower and general aviation terminal. More than 300 aircraft are based at DTN, supported by hangars, fuel services, maintenance, flight training and FBO facilities.
With its short drive to downtown and a strong business aviation community, Shreveport Downtown Airport functions as a practical gateway for private, charter and general aviation travelers visiting the Shreveport-Bossier City area.
