Shanghai Pudong International Airport is Shanghai's primary international airport and one of the busiest aviation hubs in China. Opened in 1999, it handles the majority of the city's long-haul and international flights, while domestic and regional traffic is also served from its terminals.
Located about 30 km east of central Shanghai, the airport functions as a key gateway to the city centre, the Bund, Lujiazui and destinations across the Yangtze River Delta. Its terminal complex includes Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and the satellite concourses S1 and S2, which are connected to the main terminals by an automated people mover.
