About Seronera Airport
Seronera Airport is a small safari airstrip located in the central Serengeti, within Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania. It serves as the main air gateway to the central Serengeti, connecting travellers with safari lodges, tented camps and game-viewing areas across the region.
The airstrip has a single compact passenger terminal and one runway, and it is used mainly by light aircraft operating scheduled and charter safari flights. A 2025 upgrade extended the runway to about 2.3 km and widened the taxiway, allowing larger aircraft and improving access to the park.
Seronera Airport sits roughly 2 km from the Seronera area inside the park. Because the nearest major city, Arusha, is about 300 km away by road, most visitors reach the Serengeti by flying in and continue to lodges and camps by safari vehicle.
Facilities are intentionally simple, with a small terminal, basic seating and a convenience shop. Onward travel is usually arranged through lodges, tour operators or pre-booked safari transfers.
