About Rupsi Airport
Rupsi Airport is a small domestic airport serving the lower Assam region, particularly the towns of Dhubri and Kokrajhar. Originally built during the World War II era, the airport remained inactive for decades before being redeveloped by the Airports Authority of India. The airport reopened for commercial operations in May 2021, restoring air links to a part of western Assam that had long depended on Guwahati for flights. It is spread across about 337 acres and has a single terminal building of around 3,500 square metres, along with one runway able to handle ATR-72 aircraft. Located roughly 17 km from Dhubri and about 45 km from Kokrajhar, Rupsi Airport is reached by road through taxis, local buses and private or rented cars. The compact terminal keeps check-in, security and arrivals within easy walking distance. Current scheduled services connect Rupsi with Guwahati and Kolkata, making the airport an important regional link for residents and visitors travelling across Assam and beyond.
