The airport is located about 3 km northeast of Basseterre, close to the capital. Its current passenger terminal opened after a major renovation completed in 2006, providing a compact, modern facility with combined arrivals and departures areas.
Travellers can reach Basseterre and resorts in Frigate Bay and the Southeast Peninsula by taxi, pre-booked transfer, rental car or public minibus. Taxis are regulated and available outside the arrivals hall, while car rental desks are located inside the terminal. Visitors continuing to Nevis can connect via ferry from Basseterre or take a short inter-island flight.
With its single-terminal layout, US pre-clearance for flights to the United States, and shops and cafés near the departure area, the airport offers a straightforward gateway for arrivals and departures.
