Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Airport, also known as Shivamogga Airport, is the domestic airport serving Shivamogga and the surrounding Malnad region of central Karnataka. Inaugurated in February 2023 and named after the renowned Kannada poet Kuvempu, the airport gives residents of Shivamogga and neighbouring districts a direct air link instead of long road journeys to Bengaluru or Mangaluru.
Located at Sogane, about 9 km from Shivamogga city centre and close to Bhadravathi, the airport operates from a single lotus-shaped integrated terminal. Its 3,200-metre runway is among the longest in Karnataka, supporting turboprop and narrow-body aircraft on domestic routes.
The airport is connected to Shivamogga by KSRTC shuttle buses, taxis, auto-rickshaws and private transfers, while the city centre is a short drive away. It functions as a practical gateway for travellers heading to Jog Falls, the Western Ghats and other Malnad destinations.
