Quetzaltenango Airport, also known as Los Altos Airport, is the main airport serving Quetzaltenango and the western highlands of Guatemala. It is operated by Guatemala's Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC) and carries the IATA code AAZ. Located about 3 km from the city centre, the airport serves Quetzaltenango, Guatemala's second-largest city, and nearby highland destinations such as Lake Atitlán and Chichicastenango. Scheduled commercial service has connected the airport with Guatemala City, alongside private and general aviation. The site was a simple grass landing strip before modernization works added a passenger terminal, a control tower and an asphalt runway measuring about 2,100 metres. In 2016 the facility was renamed Aeropuerto de Los Altos and later designated Aeropuerto Internacional de Occidente as part of plans to develop international operations. Passengers can reach Quetzaltenango by taxi, private transfer or rental car, with the journey typically taking 10–15 minutes. The airport's compact terminal offers basic facilities and a convenient starting point for travel across Guatemala's western highlands.
