Poptún Airport is a small public-use airfield serving the town of Poptún in the Petén Department of northern Guatemala. It is located within the town itself and is managed by Guatemala's Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil.
The airport has a single 2,730-metre gravel runway (09/27) and a very basic passenger area rather than a full commercial terminal. It is used mainly for private, charter and military flights, currently has no scheduled commercial airline service, and also functions as an alternate for Mundo Maya International Airport near Flores.
The airfield sits about 2 km from central Poptún, so onward travel is short. Visitors typically reach the town centre by tuk-tuk, taxi or pre-arranged private transfer, and continue from there to eco-lodges, Finca Ixobel and other destinations in southern Petén.
Facilities at the airfield are limited, so travellers should plan to use services in Poptún town centre. Despite its simplicity, the airport provides an important aviation link for the region, especially during the rainy season when road travel can be difficult.
