About Queen Alia International Airport
Queen Alia International Airport is Jordan's principal international airport and the main gateway to Amman and the wider country. Opened in 1983, it has grown into a major hub for regional and international travel and serves as the base for Royal Jordanian.
The airport's current integrated passenger terminal was inaugurated in March 2013 and designed by Foster + Partners. The expansion raised annual capacity in phases, improving the passenger experience with a bright, airy departures hall and streamlined arrivals facilities.
Located about 35 km south of central Amman, the airport is reached via Airport Road and connected to the city by taxi, ride-hailing services, the Sariyah Airport Express bus, private transfers, and rental cars.
With duty-free shopping, dining, lounges, prayer rooms, and other passenger services, QAIA functions as a convenient gateway for visitors exploring Amman, the Dead Sea, Petra, Wadi Rum, and destinations throughout Jordan.
