Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ)

Punta Cana International Airport is the busiest and most connected airport in the Dominican Republic and one of the leading gateways in the Caribbean. Opened in the early 1980s, it was the world’s first privately owned international commercial airport and is operated by Grupo Puntacana.

Located on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic near Punta Cana Village, the airport serves Punta Cana, Bávaro, Cap Cana, Uvero Alto and the surrounding La Altagracia province. Passenger operations are handled through Terminal A and Terminal B, which are linked by a common entrance, together with a dedicated VIP terminal and FBO facilities.

The airport is about 5 km from Punta Cana Village and roughly 25 km from the main Bávaro resort area. Travelers can continue by taxi, shared shuttle, private transfer, rental car or hotel transport, with roads linking the airport to resorts along the eastern coast and the city of Higüey.

Inside, passengers find duty-free and retail shops, restaurants and cafés, VIP lounges, free Wi-Fi, ATMs and family facilities. With two runways and year-round service to destinations across the Americas and Europe, the airport functions as a major entry point for visitors arriving in the Dominican Republic’s eastern resort region.
