About Pune International Airport
Pune International Airport is a civil enclave within Lohegaon Air Force Station, operated by the Airports Authority of India, and serves Pune and the surrounding Maharashtra region. The airfield dates back to 1939, and the airport began handling international passenger services when Air India launched flights to Dubai in December 2005.
The airport's passenger operations now run from the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB), which opened in July 2024 and became the single operating terminal in March 2025. Covering about 52,000 square metres, it provides 10 aerobridges, 34 check-in counters, 25 self-check-in kiosks and an inline baggage handling system, replacing the older terminal that had served the airport for decades.
Located approximately 10 km northeast of central Pune in Lohegaon, the airport is reachable by prepaid taxis, app-based cabs, PMPML buses, private transfers and rental cars. Travel times to the city centre typically range from 30 to 60 minutes depending on traffic.
As a hub for IndiGo and a key gateway for domestic and international travel, the airport offers restaurants, cafés, duty-free shopping, lounges, free Wi-Fi, charging points, currency exchange and medical services. It connects Pune to destinations across India and selected international routes, supporting both business and leisure travellers.
