Prentice Airport (PRW)

Prentice Airport is a small public-use general aviation airport serving the village of Prentice and Price County in northern Wisconsin. Opened in 1968, it provides a local landing facility for private pilots, recreational flyers and light air taxi operations.

Located about 1 nautical mile (2 km) east of the Prentice central business district, the airport has a single asphalt runway designated 9/27 and measuring 3,134 by 60 feet. The field operates without a control tower and is generally unattended, with a basic sheltered waiting area and tiedown parking rather than a commercial passenger terminal.

Prentice Airport works as a convenient gateway for pilots exploring northern Wisconsin's forests and lake country. It sits near Highway 8 and Highway 13, and nearby communities include Phillips, Tomahawk, Park Falls and Medford; the closest larger airport with additional services is Price County Airport in Phillips.

Because there is no scheduled airline service, most travelers reach Prentice by private aircraft or continue by car. Ground transport is informal, so visitors generally arrange private vehicle pickups or use the local road network for onward travel to the village and surrounding region.
