Pouso Alegre Airport (PPY)

Pouso Alegre Airport is a regional airport serving Pouso Alegre and the surrounding southern Minas Gerais region. It is located in the Jardim Aeroporto neighbourhood, roughly 8 km from the city centre and close to the Fernão Dias highway, one of the main road links between São Paulo and Belo Horizonte. The airport has operated since the 1950s and was revitalized in 2023, when the passenger terminal was renovated and the runway received lighting for night operations. Today it mainly supports general aviation, executive, government and medical flights, and serves as a practical access point for businesses and industries in Pouso Alegre and nearby cities. Its compact terminal provides a single passenger building with basic facilities, a small lounge and on-site parking. Although commercial airline service is limited, the airport functions as an important regional aviation gateway for companies and travellers visiting southern Minas Gerais. For onward travel, passengers can reach central Pouso Alegre and surrounding towns by car, taxi or pre-arranged transfer, with the highway network making regional journeys straightforward.
