Pietermaritzburg Airport is the primary airport serving Pietermaritzburg, the capital of KwaZulu-Natal, and the surrounding Midlands region. Formerly known as Oribi Airport, the facility has served the area since the 1930s, when the original Oribi Aerodrome was established.
Located about 4 km south of the city centre, the airport mainly handles domestic flights, including scheduled services to Johannesburg. It operates from a single passenger terminal that was expanded and modernised in 2013, together with apron upgrades, and it also supports general aviation and flight training.
