Pelaneng Airport is a small, high-elevation airstrip serving the settlement of Pelaneng in the Leribe District of Lesotho. At roughly 2,195 metres above sea level, it is used mainly for charter, utility, and light aircraft operations rather than scheduled passenger flights.
The airfield sits on a narrow ridge in the Maloti highlands and has a single unpaved runway of about 610 metres. Its remote setting and mountainous terrain make it suited primarily to short take-off and landing aircraft, and most travelers reach the region by road.
Pelaneng lies around 100 kilometres east of Maseru by direct line, with road journeys to the capital typically taking about two and a half to three hours. The nearest sizeable town, Hlotse, is roughly 76 kilometres away along mountain roads.
Because scheduled commercial service is not available at Pelaneng, travelers usually use the strip for local flights or arrive via Maseru's Moshoeshoe I International Airport, then continue by private transfer, taxi, or hired four-wheel-drive vehicle into the highlands.
