Pantnagar Airport is a domestic airport serving Pantnagar and the wider Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. It is operated by the Airports Authority of India and functions as the nearest airport for the Kumaon division, connecting travellers to Haldwani, Rudrapur and nearby hill destinations.
The airport has its origins in the 1960s, associated with the development of Pantnagar and the Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. It remained suitable only for small aircraft until 2008, when the runway was extended to about 4,500 feet to accommodate larger turboprop aircraft.
Located in Udham Singh Nagar district, the airport sits between Haldwani and Rudrapur. It is around 5 km from Pantnagar town centre, about 26 km from Haldwani and roughly 65 km from Nainital, with Bhimtal, Ranikhet, Almora and Jim Corbett National Park also accessible by road.
