About Panamá Pacífico International Airport

Panamá Pacífico International Airport is a secondary airport serving Panama City and the surrounding Panamá Pacífico area on the Pacific side of the Panama Canal. It occupies part of the former Howard Air Force Base and operates as a smaller, more compact alternative to Tocumen International Airport.

The passenger terminal was closed in March 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and reopened in July 2022 after renovation and expansion works. The upgraded building can handle up to two aircraft simultaneously and focuses mainly on low-cost and regional services, including flights operated by Wingo and charter carriers.

Located southwest of central Panama City in the district of Arraiján, the airport is reached by road across the Bridge of the Americas or via the Pan-American Highway. Taxis, ride-hailing services, private transfers and rental cars provide onward connections to the city centre and surrounding areas, while public transport options are more limited.

The compact terminal offers a café, duty-free and souvenir shopping, a VIP lounge, Wi-Fi and charging points. Its smaller size allows relatively quick processing for arrivals and departures, making it a practical gateway for travellers on regional and low-cost routes.
