Oristano-Fenosu Airport (FNU)

Oristano-Fenosu Airport is a small regional airport serving Oristano and the central-western part of Sardinia. It is situated in the locality of Fenosu, about 4 km east of the city centre, alongside the island's main SS 131 road artery.

The airfield's origins date to 1930, when a runway was built for military use. After a period of disuse, the Oristano Aeroclub began operating from the site in the 1970s, and the airport was opened to civil traffic in 1981. The management company was established in 1997, and the airport was opened to general aviation in 2005, with a runway upgrade completed the following year. In November 2007 it was named after the Oristano aviator Ernesto Campanelli.

Today the airport primarily serves general aviation, private flights, flight training and the local aeroclub rather than scheduled commercial passenger services. Its single runway of around 1,200 metres is suitable for light and midsize aircraft.

Because the airport is compact and located close to Oristano, the city centre and nearby destinations such as the Sinis Peninsula, Tharros and coastal beaches can be reached relatively quickly by road. For scheduled commercial connections, travellers generally use larger Sardinian airports such as Cagliari Elmas, Alghero or Olbia.
