N'Djili International Airport is the main international airport serving Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the largest airport in the country. It handles both domestic and international flights and functions as the principal gateway for visitors arriving in the DRC.
The airport's history dates back to 1953, when the runway and first technical buildings were opened. Its runway, among the longest in the world at around 4,700 metres, supports a wide range of aircraft operations, while a new international terminal opened in June 2015 improved the passenger experience.
Located approximately 25 km east of central Kinshasa, the airport is reached mainly along Boulevard Lumumba. Taxis, private transfers, rental cars and shared vehicles connect the airport to the city centre, including the Gombe business district.
